Update:  Saylors was elected in June 2007 and served a two-year grooming process.  He officially took over as President for the next two years this Saturday when he was installed at the National PTA convention in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

    COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - There’s a new president at the National PTA - and it’s a man.
Chuck Saylors of Greenville was installed as the group’s first-ever male president at its national convention this weekend.
The organization was once known as the Congress of Mothers, but now has Saylors as president and Byron V. Garret as its first-ever male Chief Executive Officer.
Saylors has been a PTA member for almost 20 years. He and wife Teresa have four children ranging from 9 to 24. He says he’s been motivated by getting all parents involved in the educational system.
