It’s back to school today for many students starting a new school year. Students in Spartanburg County School District 5, as well as Cherokee, Oconee, and Union all went back to class today. At Duncan Elementary, children filled the hallways as parents dropped them off early for the first day of school.
Principal Susan Hill says the start of school is always exciting for her 650 students, and the first few weeks are dedicated to getting them back into the school day routine, “Usually, the first week is where we are working on a new schedule making sure there are no kinks, but we work for the first two weeks on procedures and routines for the children cause they forget just like we do.“
The rest of the schools in Spartanburg, Anderson and Laurens County go back to school tomorrow. Greenville students start on Wednesday.
