In Italy, Obama turns to Climate, Pope, G8

    ROME (AP) - President Barack Obama is in Italy for a three-day
summit with world leaders.
    Topics will include climate change, world hunger and Iran’s
nuclear ambitions. But the White House is tempering expectations
that the meetings will produce hard and fast agreements.
    One aide says while leaders will exchange views on the catatonic
economy, he doesn’t expect they’ll walk away with concrete results.
    The attendees, which include the Group of Eight, will discuss
ways to slow the release of greenhouse gases. The G-8 drafted a
statement embracing the target of limiting the rise in average
planetary temperatures.
    The White House hasn’t disputed reports Obama is ready to
endorse that goal.
