Despite Tight Budgets, SC Courting Business In Europe

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina’s economic developers are putting in appearances at big events in France and Germany this week. The Commerce Department has representatives at the Paris Air
Show and at the Volkswagen Industrial Forum in Wolfsburg, Germany this week. New investment leader Jack Ellenberg is a featured speaker at the Volkswagen event that begins Wednesday. South Carolina has courted air and car industries for years and landed a production role for Boeing Aircraft’s 787 Dreamliner in Charleston County. It has seen its automotive business grow with BMW Manufacturing in Greer.
