Coming up Wednesday at the Statehouse
Here's what's coming up Wednesday at the Statehouse:
--The full House is expected to debate a bill to clear up any confusion about video games that are still legal. The sponsor of the bill says the law that banned video poker could apply to other games that offer prizes, including many of the games children play at places like Chuck E. Cheese's. This bill would make it clear that those games are not against the law.
--And also on the subject of recreational games, a House committee will be talking about another bill that would allow recreational poker games in people's homes.
--That House committee will also debate the proposal to abolish parole. The state's attorney general is pushing the idea, saying right now now one knows how long inmates will actually be in prison, not even the judges who sentence them.
--Over in the Senate, a subcommittee will be working on a bill to ban advertising inside school buses. A new policy of the state Department of Education allows school districts to sell advertising space above the windows.
--Another Senate committee will debate a bill to increase penalties for hurting or killing a police dog or horse.
