COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina’s highest court wants more
information from Gov. Mark Sanford over his waiver of
confidentiality in a state ethics investigation.
The state Supreme Court on Wednesday gave Sanford five days to
file more materials over whether the State Ethics Commission can
release its report on the governor to state lawmakers.
Sanford waived confidentiality to the investigation. But the
governor’s attorneys argued before the court on Monday that Sanford
didn’t allow the release of all the information in the report, just
the fact he was being investigated.
Associated Press investigations questioning the governor’s
travel prompted the investigation, which should be completed next
month.
