Kristen Nastasia joined the News Channel 7 team in August 2004. Reporting from the Greenville Newsroom, she is On Your Side weeknights at 5:00pm, 5:30pm and 6:00pm.



Since joining WSPA, Kristen was nominated for her first Emmy, and has since been nominated two more times as part of the News Channel 7 team.




In 2009, the parent company of WSPA, Media General, awarded Kristen a prestigious D. Tennant Bryan Award for "Hard News Reporting - Large Market," for her story uncovering the Upstate's gang problem.




In 2005, the South Carolina Broadcaster's Association awarded Kristen "Television Reporter of the Year" merit honors. Then, in 2006, Kristen's work uncovering the Upstate's Meth problem earned her a First Place Associated Press Award for her series on "Meth and Kids."



Kristen comes to the Upstate from WZVN-TV, the ABC affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida.. During that time, Kristen headlined coverage of President George W. Bush's visit. It was the first time a sitting President visited Southwest Florida in fifty years. She also covered the historic Everglades Restoration groundbreaking, the Terror Scare on Alligator Alley in 2002, and Hurricane Charley.



Kristen got her start at WECT-TV in Wilmington, NC. There she won the prestigious "Rookie of the Year" award from the North Carolina Associated Press.



Kristen's work has also won her awards for "Best General News" and "Best Spot News" twice from the Associated Press. The Radio Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas awarded Kristen "Best Political" and "Best Consumer" reporting.



She might originally be from chilly Syracuse, New York, but Kristen considers herself a true Carolinian at heart. Kristen graduated from Elon University near Greensboro, NC, and earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting and Journalism. She's happy to be back "home" in the Carolinas.



When Kristen is not at work, she enjoys shopping, trying new recipes and training for triathlons. She lives in Greer with her miniature schnauzer Darth Vader.
