Toy Drive This Sunday 11/8 in Memory of Syl Syl
There will be many toy drives this holiday season.
But one going on this Sunday 11/8 carries a special memory with it.
It’s the day of the sixth annual “Syl Syl Christmas Toy Drive.“
The toy drive is 2 - 4 pm at “The Clock Restaurant” on West Poinsett Street in Greer.
It’s in memory of Sylvia Holtzclaw.

My First Look Inside Superbike Motorsports
Walking around the former Superbike Motorsports building last month was one of the most erie experiences I’ve had in the news business.
It was my first trip to Superbike. I had gotten permission from the current owner to do an interview inside with Senior Investigator William Gary of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s office.
It was a long ride up Parris Bridge Road. Superbike was in the middle of nowhere. That was probably good for a business that generated a lot of noise with the revving of engines.

Keeping Count of the Halloween Visitors
Even in a down year, we did pretty good.
Gayle and I kept a running count of “trick or treaters” who came to our door this past Saturday night.
I can’t remember what time the first one knocked on our door. But the last one who came by at 9:15 was number 66.
Some years we have 100 or more. A few times we’ve only had maybe 30.
But considering the on-and-off pouring rain and competition from fall festivals at churches and schools, 66 was a solid number.
Halloween Trick
It was my first real experience getting kids ready and taking them trick or treating. And with the weather and unexpected costume problems, it was more tricky than treaty!
How To Save $$$ On Call-Waiting, Three-Way Calls
In a tough economy, I’m here with some money saving ideas for you. My wife captured this picture of me employing Fred’s official call-waiting and three-way calling technology.

My Columbia Adventure (Not the USC City)
You’re probably very familiar with Columbia, SC, especially if you’re a Gamecocks fan.
South Carolina state capitol… state government hub… home of the University of South Carolina.
Ever been to Columbia, -North- Carolina?
If you’ve traveled to the NC Outer Banks via US Highway 64, you’ve gone right through it.
If you blinked, you missed it.
And that’s too bad.

Upstate Will Also Benefit from Boeing, Twelve Thousand Jobs
With unemployment standing at 11.6% in September, South Carolina hurts for good news about jobs.
Tonight monumental good news has arrived on the wings of aircraft manufacturer Boeing.
It’s big for the Lowcountry, but it’s also big for the entire state.
Think of it as BMW with wings.

Temperatures In The 30’s, Now Back To Our Movie..
I laughed out loud - no, I didn’t type LOL somehwere online - when I heard The Weather channel was going to start showing movies. Some of the choices (Misery?!?) strike me as a little odd.

Where Was James Bond When The Moon Needed To Be Saved?
Shooting a rocket to explode on the moon. Wasn’t that a SPECTRE plot in a James Bond movie? And where was 007 Friday when the moon was under attack?
Golf in the Olympics? Maybe Chicago Actually Won
The International Olympic Committee voted Friday to add golf to the competition for the 2016 Olympics. I only have one question and it only requires one word: why?

Widening Corruption Scandal Adds to Union County’s Woes
In one of his live reports tonight from in front of the federal courthouse in Greenville, News Channel 7’s Chris Cato called this “a dark day for Union County.“
Union County has seen more than its share of dark days over the past two years.
Corruption and unemployment have made for hard times.
Federal indictments revealed today accuse top current and former county officials of a wide range of corruption charges.

Not Enough Material For a Blog; Too Many Topics for One Entry
I talk about President Obama and the Olympics, Michael Vick, Jay Leno and the wisdom of following politicians in a free-wheeling blog that you should be required reading for America’s youth. Or maybe not.

What Do You Say After “That’s All Folks?“
Sunday was a rough day around our house. My nearly nine year old daughter was getting ready for her 12th and final performance as Marta von Trapp in the SCCT production of “The Sound of Music.“
The key word is final.
