A consumer specialist says you shouldn’t spend more than 1.5 percent of your budget on holiday shopping.

Governor Mark Sanford has launched a two day tour around the state calling for tougher state spending limits.

Sanford said Wednesday he’s been telling legislators for five years that the state’s budget would be wrecked in the next economic downturn.

State officials are expecting to get a clearer picture of how short the state is falling on tax collections. The Board of Economic Advisors meets Monday to review tax collections from June - the final month of the last fiscal year.
