A Charlotte-area religious broadcaster is building a $4 million home in western South Carolina, as the ministry has cut jobs.

Employees and agents of South Carolina’s Law Enforcement Division are planning on getting a soaking to raise money and collect food for Harvest Hope Food Bank by participating in a dunk tank fundraiser Thursday.

Miracle Hill provides a place to sleep and food for the homeless and helps drug addicts break their addictions.

These charities are working with their communities to help make Christmas a special occassion for some needy families this year.

Through the Carton of Caring program, children are offered a chance to buy a Learning Curve dollhouse for themselves and then fill the box with toys and clothes to give to the less fortunate.

“Operation GO! Ministries” is planning a Christmas dinner and toy giveaway for the needy of the Upstate. 

With a $75 toy donation, customers will receive a $300 discount on the purchase of select automobiles available to the public from the South Carolina Budget and Control Board’s Surplus Property Warehouse.

A local weight loss group is helping people keep the pounds off while helping the needy.

Nigerian native Manny Ohonme started the walk on Saturday and expects to be in Atlanta on Oct. 26. He’ll be making the entire trip barefooted.
