NASCAR Driver Kyle Petty and Herschel Walker Make Pit Stop in the Upstate

The 14th Anniversary Chick-fil-a Kyle Petty Charity Ride across America riders rolled in about 9:30 a.m.  Two hundred motorcyclists travel 3000 miles from Michigan to Georgia to raise money for The Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, North Carolina a place for chronically ill children.  Friday they make a pit stop in Duncan.

Grandmother Saved by Defibrillator Tells Her Story

High schools will be required to have defibrillators under a new law that goes into effect this fall. The law will require schools to implement defibrillator programs that include inspections and training on how to use the devices.

Upstate Residents Cutting Back to Save Gas

As the national average for gas topped $4.00 a gallon Monday, it set a new record at $4.02. The average in South Carolina is twenty cents less at $3.82 a gallon. We pay even less in the Upstate at $3.79. A year ago, we were paying $2.86 a gallon.

Uh-Ohs Characters Teach Kids About Safety

Most of your kids are out of school for the summer or at least on break, but that doesn’t mean they can’t learn. The National Fire Protection Association has a new way children can learn about water, fire and bike safety and have fun - on-line and out of the heat. It’s based on characters called the “Uh-Ohs.” The site is geared for kindergarten to third-graders.

Northwest Middle School Students Praised for Hydrogen Fueled Toy Cars

The mission? To help take control of our energy future. That was assignment for some upstate middle school students in the fall. Thursday at the International Center for Automotive Research, those Greenville County students were recognized for the cool hydrogen fueled cars they built in class.

School Resource Officer Bill Passes House and Senate

Both the South Carolina Senate and House have passed a bill which would prevent students from spending a long period of time in jail after being arrested for a misdemeanor at school.

Parent of Student Playing Pretend Guns Says Schools Are Going Too Far

Five-year-old Easton Keller attends kindergarten at Oakview Elementary in Simpsonville. When his dad received a phone call from school, Mike Keller says he was alarmed.  “My immediate concern was is my son ok? Are any other students hurt?  What happened?“ Keller says he was told Easton and two friends had been sent to the principal’s office for playing pretend guns on the playground.
