The rain continues to fall across the region Monday night, after flooding caused damage throughout Oconee County and counties in western North Carolina.

They are events you hope never happen to your home or business…fires, floods, trees falling on your roof.

Environmentalists worry that the sludge, filled with ash from the coal-fired power plant, could pose a health risk. But initial tests by a public utility company found no threat to drinking water.

Droughts are long-term periods of dry weather.  Short term heavy rain can still occur…and stil cause localized flooding.
