The region saw heavy rains and wind, closing some roads Wednesday, also bringing down trees and causing some power outages

The National Hurricane Center reports Ida weakened to a tropical storm on Monday morning. The system is still expected to bring large amounts of rain - and possible flooding - to the Carolinas on Tuesday.

A car driver in Etowah, NC tried to drive across a flooded portion of Banner Farm Road.  She wasn’t able to make it to the other side.  She had to be saved from the flooding waters by Etowah Fire Fighters. 

Many roads remain closed in western North Carolina on Wednesday, but the state climatologist says the rain helped ease the drought in South Carolina.

The rain has stopped in Western North Carolina and around the Upstate.  News Channel 7 Meterologist Dan Bickford says we still have a chance for hit and miss showers and thunderstorms.

The rain continues to fall across the region Monday night, after flooding caused damage throughout Oconee County and counties in western North Carolina.

Heavy rains caused flooding in Henderson County on Monday.

Transylvania County Schools on two hour delay on Monday. Buses in Oconee County will be delayed 2 hours.

A Union man says his yard gets flooded with trash and other debris every time he gets a big rain, and he says the SC Department of Transportation is to blame.

Hurricane season is here, and meteorologists will be meeting in Atlanta beginnning tomorrow to discuss the impacts hurricanes can have on INLAND locations like ours.

A flash flood or flood watch means that flooding is a possibility for a given area.  Keep an eye on conditions near you, and be prepared to take action if flooding occurs.  A warning indicates that flooding is occurring is imminent, and action needs to be taken immediately.

Storm Team 7 says a tornado watch is in effect until 7:00 pm for all the Upstate and parts of North Carolina and Georgia.
