The pleas of many helped a Jonesville church open a new community food bank Saturday.

A back-up at theSC Department of Social Services has kept those in need from receiving their monthly food stamps. Now they’re calling 7 On Your Side for help and visiting local food banks as they wait desperately for their benefits to be deposited into their accounts.

    Even during hard times, people have to eat.

    And it is heartwarming to see the public support local food banks are receiving.

    Over the weekend and again on Monday 3/30, News Channel 7 told you about the “Food From the Heart” food drive that was going on in the Upstate and Midlands of South Carolina.

    My wife and I encountered it first hand as we made a grocery stop at the Cedar Spring Bi-Lo in Spartanburg during Saturday’s rain. 

A local weight loss group is helping people keep the pounds off while helping the needy.
