Billy Roy Burriss, charged with the murder of his wife and leaving her remains in a trash can, appeared before a judge in Anderson Wednesday morning.

The Spartanburg County Solicitor’s Office says Leroy Leek, on trial for the murder of Douglas Postell in May 2007, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and sentenced to 30 years in prison Thursday afternoon.

Funeral Services for Jeremy Dickerson will be held at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the Mausoleum Chapel in Anderson. Deputies say the 7-year-old was beaten to death with a metal mop handle.

Jonathan Lamont Arledge, 32, of Spartanburg and Fred Burgess Dawkins, 41, of Greer were acquitted on Wednesday, and released from custody the newspaper reported.

A month after Verlisha Littlejohn disappeared, investigators found her car and unclothed body at different spots in the Broad River. While the Cherokee County Sheriff believes Littlejohn may have killed herself, the coroner said he’s not convinced.

Curtis Vance is to be arraigned Friday in Arkansas for the beating death of Anne Pressly, a TV anchorwoman originally from Greenville.
