Morning frost is covering the Carolinas, and some parts of the region are seeing temperatures below the freezing mark.

Light snowfall in Western North Carolina will help the effort of the Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley, NC to open earlier than they have before.

Our summer has been anything but oppressive, but lots of people are ready for the cool fall air to stick around.

The snow falling in South Carolina Tuesday morning wasn’t limited to the Upstate. The National Weather Service reported light snow in parts of the Midlands and the Pee Dee.

Winter weather forecasting, especially looking out days in advance, can be full of traps this time of year.

There are lots of requests for Christmas snow, but it’s not in the cards for us this time around.  Warm weather and rain shower chances will be the rule through Christmas weekend.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the TN border counties, Macon and Northern Jackson counties until 6 AM Tuesday.  Snowfall accumulations will produce hazardous travel conditions through Tuesday morning because of snow covered, slick roadways. The Upstate will see only a slight chance of a stray rain or snow shower through midnight with mostly cloudy conditions on average through the night.

When snow is in the forecast for a part of the area, little details…like the fact that the snow may be limited to just part of the area…sometimes get lost.

Air 7 picks up flurries falling over northern Greenville County Friday morning, while snow blankets much of western North Carolina.

Mountain residents can expect one to three inches of snow, according to Storm Team 7 meteorologists. A winter weather advisory is still in effect for parts of Western North Carolina.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for North Carolina Counties bordering Tennessee. Spartanburg County is also under a freeze watch for Monday night/Tuesday morning.
