The Upstate Workforce Investment Board and Spartanburg Community College are partnering to offer a manufacturing course they say manufacturing employers are looking for.

An Upstate community college is assisting college students who have the odds stacked against them.

More than 100,000 veterans are taking advantage of a new post-9/11 GI bill which helps veterans and military families earn undergraduate or advanced degrees; but several months into the school year, about half are still waiting for that money.  A young Upstate veteran says it almost cost him everything.

While enrollment at community college is up about 10% nationwide, an Upstate college is up 19% from this same time last year.  One reason may be the fact that you aren’t limited to starting at just the fall, spring or summer.  They have “rolling enrollment” which means when you are ready to start, you pretty much can.

Textbooks are expensive especially when you purchase them from your college bookstore.  When you turn them in at the end of the semester chances are you do not even get half of what you paid, but there are ways to save.

Hundreds of jobs coming to the Upstate this Spring and free certification classes are offered to help you secure one of those jobs.

The training is designed to meet national standards set by the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council.
