As we’re still in our relatively stormy spring weather season and the end of school draws more people outdoors, don’t forget to keep lightning safety in mind at all times.

Deciding how to proceed with weekend plans can be difficult when we know there will be thunderstorms around, but not everyone will see them.

The weather watches have been cancelled in the Upstate and in Western North Carolina. A winter weather advisory has been issued for counties in Western North Carolina with snow expected in the higher elevations.

The Southeastern drought means trees are weaker and more likely to suffer damage in high winds.  This causes a problem when determining how strong a storm really is.

Stormy weather of late…and a lightning strike in my backyard that fried my satellite TV…serve as a reminder that we need to take precautions when stormy weather moves through.
