More than 100,000 veterans are taking advantage of a new post-9/11 GI bill which helps veterans and military families earn undergraduate or advanced degrees; but several months into the school year, about half are still waiting for that money.  A young Upstate veteran says it almost cost him everything.

Requests for student financial aid are up and advisors say parents and students better get creative about paying for it.

Clemson students will by paying more next year.

Most undergraduates at the University of South Carolina students will pay 3.6 percent more for tuition this fall - an increase of around $300 a year for the school’s largest campus.

South Carolina State University trustees voted Thursday to raise tuition 8.4 percent for the 2009-2010 academic year.
