Roller Coaster Ride

March is usually a crazy month as far as how the weather works and how well - or not so well - the computer models get a handle on what’s going to happen.  Cold air from Canada still tries to make the trip down to the south when a dip in the jet stream forms, but at the same time, longer days help foster warm conditions near the Gulf Coast that try to work northward.  It’s definitely been a roller coaster ride for us around the Western Carolinas lately - we broke a record high on Monday and Wednesday when the temperature rose to 84 degrees!  It was short sleeve weather for sure, and when I wrote the numbers on the paper for the 7-day, I just shook my head.  It’s hard to believe that over a course of 48 hours we’ve seen a 40 degree temperature drop on the high!!  You know it’s cold when you can see your breath - and that’s how it was Friday!

After one more cold day - with added rain on Saturday - the roller coaster will begin its trip back up.  I’ve only been on a roller coaster 1 time - it was the Judge Roy Scream coaster at Six Flags in Arlington, Texas.  It wasn’t even a true coaster, I guess, since it didn’t have any loop to loops, but it was scary enough for me.  I’m sure I’m in the minority on my dislike of these coasters, but I’ll never forget that “click…click…click…click” as it SLOWLY went up the hill before the big drop.  THAT’S what we’re expecting by Sunday.  Sunday’s high - 50s…then 60s by Tuesday - could hit 70 on Wednesday…So warmer weather IS coming back, but we have another 40 degree day to get through before it happens.
