The Tropics Heat Up

Mid-August is when, on average, we start to see hurricane season ramp up…on the way to its statistical peak in September.  After a slow start to his year’s Atlantic hurricane season, we’re starting to see more tropical waves with potential for development in the Tropics…and during the early morning of Tuesday, August 11…we finally saw the second tropical depression of the season form.

Don’t forget, whether your keeping tabs on what becomes of this system…or any others that should develop in either the Atlantic or the Pacific…check in with the Hurricane Center in the weather section on wspa.com.  Not only can you track the storms, but you’ll also find several links to safety tips and other useful information.

While the peak of the season is next month, the season runs through the end of November.  Keep that in mind as summer turns into fall…
