Weather Keeping Me Busy

» 3 Comments | Post a Comment

Since I started filling in for Christy Henderson while she had her baby, it has been very busy in the Storm Team 7 Weather Center. First, two weeks ago, we had a tornado outbreak in the Upstate that caused some damage at Clemson and other areas of Pickens County. Then, we went a whirlwind tour of hurricanes and tropical storms, from Gustav to Hanna to Ike.
This has been a major change for me since I grew up out west where all we dealt was hot days and an occasional thunderstorm or earthquake. I am very happy to have the opportunity to use my meteorologial skills in an area that gets some “real” weather.
Christy should be back in mid October, but until then, I will keep working extra hard to make sure you have the best forecast and the most up to date information on any storms in our area.
By the way, I finally tried a “local” place for breakfast, Stax Omega diner on Pelham Rd. The food was good and I enjoyed that “southern” style service. They were very nice people.

I have some more suggestions for breakfast.  Try the Skillet on Pine St or on Highway9.  Also there’s Geri’s on Highway 9 near Lake Bowen.  All are great for home cooked southern food.

Great job on the weather.  Keep it up til Christie returns.
