News Channel 7 Signal Restored To Some Viewers

» 3 Comments | Post a Comment

News Channel 7 has restored its analog and digital signal, and most of our viewers should be able to see our programs as of 7:30 Sunday night.

As some of you know last weekend’s winter storm brought down our antennae on Hogback Mountain. Our engineers have been diligently working to restor our signal with a temporary antennae. They are still working to fully restor our signal to all our our viewers.

We apologize for the inconvenience.  News Channel 7 management is doing everything possible to make the repairs pronto.

For the meantime, our signal is still being fed to Charter Cable, DirecTV and some other cable/satellite customers.  Some of these systems normally take the signal from our broadcast tower and re-broadcast it.  Hopefully we’ll find an alternative way for them to get our signal.

We’ve also put it on digital channel 62-point-2.

Those of you with antenna tv’s have already made the conversion to DTV to see WYCW/Channel 62 (the switch happened February 17th).

If you have a converter box but haven’t installed it yet, we encourage you to do so right away.  You’ll be able to see News Channel 7 on 62-point-2 while our towers are being repaired, and you’ll be set for News Channel 7’s conversion to all digital, tentatively set for June 12th.

I hope that you all consider leaving the 62.2 on the way it is now.  It’s the only way I can watch cbs and your news since converting to the dtv converter box.

My daughter and I figured out what went wrong w/ the tower after watching tonight! Your tower was hit with a “snoe” storm(as reported), those are MUCH harder than a snow storm!LOL. Thought it was a funny slip for you guys…

Sorry, but the DOT have no idea what they are talking about. The backup on interstate 85 started at approx. 8:30pm last night. And we (I was in the middle of this mess) saw no highway patrol at all. I understand it was difficult if not impossible to get to some of the ones that had accidents, but there were folks with babies and the elderly just stranded out there. I just pray everyone makes it out alright.
