Doctors… who are rock stars!

See for yourself in Spartanburg at a fundraiser for a very worthy local cause.

Saturday, March 14th will be the first “Docs Who Rock” concert in Spartanburg. The event begins at 7 pm at the USC-Upstate Performing Arts Center.  Bands and other musical performers (about a dozen in all) will participate in this “battle of the bands” style event.

Each musical act must include at least one doctor.  In addition to various styles of music, there will be original songs poking fun at the medical profession.

My band “Rock and Roll Reunion”, now in its 15th year, will be performing.  Our normal five-piece lineup is joined this night by Dr. Drew Monitto, a radiation oncologist, on keyboards.

Each band gets approximately 8 minutes onstage.  “Rock and Roll Reunion” will be performing these songs:

“I Can’t Help Myself” (4 Tops)

“How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You” (James Taylor)

“Bad Case of Loving You” (Robert Palmer)

The panel of judges includes my News Channel 7 co-anchor Amy Wood.  Radio personality Lamar Richardson (“Lamar” on the Bob and Sherry Show), a hilarious guy and my friend for many years, is emcee.

This event is sponsored by the Spartanburg County Medical Society Alliance.  Proceeds will support health education programs.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.  All seating is reserved.

To get more information about “Docs Who Rock” and/or get tickets, visit http://www.docswhorockspartanburg.com.  You’re also invited to check out http://www.rockandrollreunion.com.

It’ll be fun, and you’ll be helping a good cause.  We’d love to see you there!
