Clemson head coach Oliver Purnell’s name was in the news Thursday and it appears that it was all for not.

Early in the day, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Purnell and Miami head coach Frank Haith would interview with Georgia athletic director Damon Evans about the Bulldogs’ head coach’s opening.

Purnell later denied that through various means and The Greenville News quoted Purnell saying “I’m happy where I am.“

Thursday night Georgia hired Nevada’s Mark Fox and will introduce him at a Friday news conference, according to a school official.

Purnell signed a multi-year contract extension last year and recently received what Clemson athletic director Terry Don Phillips described as a salary enhancement.
