Clemson will be invited to play in the January 1st Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, according to sources.

The official invite may not come until as late as Sunday.

The Florida Times-Union reported earlier Tuesday that the game was selecting between Clemson and Florida State for its ACC representative.  There are indications that Nebraska, out of the Big 12, will be the opponent.

Clemson’s last visit to the Gator Bowl was on New Year’s Day 2001, when the Tigers lost to Virginia Tech. They also played in the game in 1949, 1952, 1977, 1978, 1986, 1989, and 1996.
