Glover Tied for the Lead Through 55 Holes at the U.S. Open

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) -

The final round of the U.S. Open has
been suspended for darkness, and not a moment too soon for Ricky
Barnes.

Barnes had a one-shot lead over Lucas Glover after 54 holes in
the rain-plagued championship, but it didn’t last long. Barnes had
a bogey on the first hole, then hit his tee shot into gnarly rough
on No. 2.

Barnes and Glover are tied for the overnight lead at 7-under
par. That’s five shots clear of everyone else, but there’s a who’s
who of golfers chasing them.

Phil Mickelson, hoping to bring home the silver trophy to a wife
battling breast cancer, is in a four-way tie at 2 under after
playing two holes in par. David Duval, once the world’s No. 1 who
hasn’t won on Tour since 2001, is tied with Hunter Mahan, Ross
Fisher and Mickelson five shots off the lead.

Mike Weir, a former Masters champion, is alone at 1 under
through three holes of his final round.

Then there’s Tiger Woods, who ended his day with a birdie on the
seventh hole and was even par. Woods starts Monday seven shots off
the lead as he tries for his 15th major title

The final round resumes at 9 a.m. Eastern time Monday.
