Columbia, S.C. - South Carolina outfielder Jackie Bradley, Jr. (Prince George, Va./Prince George HS) has been named to the
Baseball America 2009 Freshman All-American Team as announced on Wednesday morning. Bradley, a first-team selection, had a
productive first season with the Gamecocks batting .349 (89-for-255) with 11 HR and 46 RBI and played in all 63 games on the year
with 61 starts. Bradley ended the season on a high note as well with a productive NCAA Regional in Greenville, N.C. as he hit .500
(9-for-18) for the weekend with a pair of homers and eight runs scored as well.
Bradley had a strong first season the Gamecock lineup finishing with 26 multi-hit games, the third highest total on the Gamecock
squad. His 89 hits on the year is also a Gamecock record for hits by a freshman in single season. Also a member of the SEC All-
Freshman team, Bradley led the team in runs scored with 69 and added 11 doubles and two triples as well. He finished the year with a
.537 slugging percentage and a .431 on-base percentage. Bradley was 8-for-10 in stolen bases.
Bradley also received Freshman All-America honors from both Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA. The Gamecock outfielder is
competing this summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Hyannis Mets along with teammate Jay Brown. Whit Merrifield and
Parker Bangs are also on the Cape playing for the Chatham A’s.
