The State newspaper reports that prized South Carolina wide receiver signee Alshon Jeffery is awaiting the result of an SAT that he took earlier this month to determine if he’ll qualify to enroll this fall.

Jeffery’s high school coach tells The State that he’ll enter a prep school if he’s ineligible for USC.

Meanwhile, the newspaper reports that Columbia High defensive back Chris Payne is among three signees headed for prep school or junior college in the fall.

Gamecocks recruiting coordinator Shane Beamer confirms that South Pointe receiver Charles Holmes would attend junior college after failing to qualify, while Beaufort defensive lineman Duane Chisolm would enroll in a prep school or junior college.
