BMW Hosts March for Meals Event
On Monday, March 23, Enid Borden, President and CEO of MOWAA, was the keynote speaker at another March For Meals event, So No Senior Goes Hungry. The focus of Ms. Bordens remarks were centered on the recently released senior hunger study conducted by MOWAA. In regards to the results Ms. Borden said, Hunger is a disease that we can cure today if we work together.

You Can Make a Difference for an Abused
Many people in Laurens County are unaware of the Volunteer Guardian ad Litem (GAL) Program, and their work with abused children. Children who have been abused need a caring adult who can be their advocate. Our volunteers provide a powerful voice on behalf of children, in and out of the courtroom. Unfortunately, because children continue to enter the system, more trained volunteers are needed.

Fire Safety for People with Special Need
Fire is especially dangerous for those of us that are disabled. That is I have chosen the dates of October 5-11, 2008, National Fire Prevention Week, to publish my thoughts as a quadriplegic to all members of the disabled community. My current goal as a disabled citizen and firefighter is to make us all aware of fire safety, especially those of us that are disabled or physically challenged.

Ford Event Raises Money for High School
The recent Cruise 4 UR School event held at George Coleman Ford raised $1,740 for the Traveler Rest High School Booster Club. Ford Motor Company and George Coleman Ford donated $20 for every participant who test drove a Ford vehicle.
