New River Intake Plant Public Meeting

The Ashe County Commissioners and the Boone Town Council will host a joint meeting on Tuesday June 23, 2009, 6-9 pm at Westwood Elementary School, 4083 US Highway 221 South, West Jefferson to discuss the Town of Boone’s proposed water intake plant in the Brownwood area near Todd. The meeting will be an open forum Town Hall style format, with the public invited to ask questions and make comments. This is the first time the Town of Boone and the Ashe County Commissioners have publicly jointly addressed the issue. All are invited.

Smoke Detecters Saves Lives and Home

Around 2am Norris Vol. Fire Deprtment respnded to a structure fire on @ 104 Howe St. in Norris. Upon NFD arrivall all occupants was out of mobile Home . Home owner stated smoke alarm woke them and he went to bedroom to invistigate while his wife called 911. The TV caught fire and set wall on fire. Fire was exstinguished with minamal damage. The family is staying with relatives for the night
