WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Shane Nichols hit a running layup
with 2.1 seconds to go as Wofford knocked off Purdue 69-66 on Wednesday night
in a second-round game of the Las Vegas Classic.
Nichols tied the game at 66-66 with 49.2 seconds to go by
hitting a deep 3-pointer.
Junior Salters led Wofford (5-4) with 13 points, while Matt
Estep added 11 and Shane Nichols contributed 10. Drew Gibson had a
career-high 13 assists for the Terriers.
Keaton Grant scored 17 points and Robbie Hummel added 10 for
Purdue.
Both teams travel to Las Vegas for two more games in the
Classic. Purdue plays Iowa State and Wofford meets Texas Southern
on Saturday. Tournament play finishes Sunday.
