ATLANTA (AP) - Auburn found a new quarterback at the Chick-fil-A
Bowl.
Freshman Kodi Burns threw for a touchdown and scored on a
seven-yard run in overtime to lead Number 22 Auburn to a 23-20
victory over 15th-ranked Clemson on Monday night.
Clemson only mustered a field goal during its overtime
possession. The offense struggled all night. Cullen Harper was only
14-for-33 passing for 104 yards as Clemson was held to 12 first
downs and 291 yards.
Eighty-three of those yards came on a C.J. Spiller touchdown
run. Spiller finished with 111 yards and James Davis ran for 72
yards.
Burns played behind senior starter Brandon Cox as Auburn played
its first game in the spread offense installed by new offensive
Burns threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Mario Fannin for his
only completion of the game and had 13 carries for 69 yards,
including the winning run.
