Clemson Accepts Gator Bowl Invitation

All indications are that Nebraska, out of the Big 12, will be the opponent. However, that probably won't be confirmed until Sunday based on Big 12 Conference rules.

Clemson University and Gator Bowl officials announced during a press conference Wednesday the school is accepting an invitation to play in the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida on New Years Day.

All indications are that Nebraska, out of the Big 12, will be the opponent. However, that probably won't be confirmed until Sunday based on Big 12 Conference rules.

Clemson's last visit to the Gator Bowl was on New Year's Day 2001, when the Tigers lost to Virginia Tech. They also played in the game in 1949, 1952, 1977, 1978, 1986, 1989 and 1996.

The Gator Bowl kicks off at 1:00pm on January 1 and will be televised by CBS and News Channel 7.
