Former Byrnes High quarterback Brian Lane was approved Monday night as the new head coach at Woodruff High School.
Lane replaces Fred Brown, who left Woodruff last Thursday to become head coach at Spartanburg High School. Lane spent this past season guiding South Florence, his first head coaching job. The Bruins finished 2-9 in a rebuilding season.
Prior to arriving at South Florence Lane was an assistant coach at his alma mater Byrnes, where he was the starting quarterback from 1992 to 1994.
Woodruff officially introduced Lane at a Tuesday afternoon news conference.
