Clemson head football coach Tommy Bowden gave further comment on the status of rising sophomore defensive back DeAndre McDaniel Monday after last week's decision by the university's advisory board to maintain McDaniel's status as a student in good standing.

"We continue to review information concerning this case, and I want to be clear that I take these charges against DeAndre McDaniel seriously."

"DeAndre remains a Clemson student, and I will allow him to be an active member of the football team at this time. We will continue to monitor the legal process as it develops. His status for our regular season competition is yet to be determined."

McDaniel was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature in an incident involving his girlfriend on June 22nd.
