Clemson's Justin Sarratt struck out 12 Georgia batters in eight innings while allowing just one run but a three-run ninth inning pushed the number one Bulldogs past the Tigers, 4-2, Wednesday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
The Tigers took a 2-1 lead to the ninth inning but with runners on first and second Georgia's Rich Proythress singled to right. The hard grounder was misplayed by Tiger rightfielder Kyle Parker, allowing two runs to score. Proythress later scored to make it 4-2.
In Columbia, Jay Brown pitched 6 2/3 innings of shutout ball and Jackie Bradley hit his sixth homer of the season in South Carolina's 10-0 whitewashing of Furman.
