SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Eric Marshall, a four-year letterman for the Wofford College men’s basketball team, passed away on Wednesday, April 22. A 2007 graduate of Wofford, Marshall collapsed while playing basketball in Augusta, Georgia.

He received a bachelors of arts degree in finance from Wofford. In addition to basketball, Marshall was a leadership coordinator for Souljahs for Christ and a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Eric Marshall was a blessing for all of us that knew him and he leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, love and passion in everything he pursued,” said Wofford head coach Mike Young. “He will be remembered for his athletic exploits, and there were many, but I will forever remember him more for how he lived his life off the floor. He was a very good and hard working student, a model citizen and an active and engaged member our college community while at Wofford. He loved and admired his family, his beautiful wife Tanya and his two young sons. We all lost someone special today.”

Marshall played in 83 career games for the Terriers despite having both his junior and senior seasons limited due to knee injuries. He scored a total of 863 career points with an average of 10.4 per game. He scored a career-high 27 points in a win over the College of Charleston in 2004. As a sophomore, Marshall was third in the Southern Conference in three point field goal percentage.

Marshall played two years for Greenbrier High School in Augusta, and both years was named the county’s Player of the Year by The Columbia County News-Times. In 2003, Marshall was named The Augusta Chronicle’s Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
