Swinney Contract Details Released

Incentives could move him up ACC pay ladder

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Clemson coach Dabo Swinney will earn at
least $800,000 a year as the football coach.
Swinney officially took over full time after last season.
However, the athletic department did not release the contract
figures until Thursday.
Swinney has a five-year deal that pays him a base salary of
$250,000 and guarantees outside income of $550,000.
Swinney's compensation is about four times what he made last
season when he started as receivers coach before being hired as
interim coach after Tommy Bowden left in midseason.
Should Swinney remain with the Tigers through the end of his
contract, he'd receive a payment of $750,000.
