COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina defensive back C.C.
Whitlock has been reinstated to the Gamecocks - again.
South Carolina athletic spokesman Steve Fink said Whitlock had
been brought back to the team by coach Steve Spurrier.
Whitlock had been suspended twice the past four months, the last
time in May when he was arrested and accused of trespassing at club
in Fairfield County. That arrest came just days after Whitlock
first team suspension was lifted.
Last month, a magistrate found Whitlock not guilty of the
charge.
Whitlock's latest reinstatement also was approved by athletic
director Eric Hyman.
Whitlock, a sophomore from Chester, played in nine games last
fall. He is expected to contend for a starting job in the secondary
when drills begin next month.
