Josh Council scored 34 points to lead
Camden to a 77-62 victory over Greer in the Class 3A boys state
championship game Saturday night.
The Bulldogs (23-2) won their first state title in 51 years and
their first in Class 3A. They won the Class 2A crown in 1958.
Greer (20-9) scored the first 10 points of the game, but Camden
rallied to trail 20-18 at the end of the first quarter.
Council then scored 20 of the Bulldogs' 26 points in the second
quarter to give Camden a 44-32 halftime lead.
Chandler Hash had 12 of his 14 points in the third quarter to
help Greer trim the deficit to nine points at one point, but the
Yellow Jackets could get no closer.
Evrik Gary added 23 points for the Bulldogs and Jay Council
finished with 10.
Joseph Neely led Greer with 15 points and Michael McIver and
Mike Rox added 12 apiece.
