Clemson is in seventh place after day one of the NCAA Northeast Regional in New Jersey.
The Tigers are 26-over par as a team and trail first place Tennessee by 14 strokes but they're just three strokes behind fifth-place Illinois. The top five teams after Saturday's final round advance to the finals.
South Carolina is tied for third with Charlotte at the Southeast Regional in Florida.
The Gamecocks are 11-under par and just five strokes off the lead of UCF.
