CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Jeff Schaus doubled home two runs in the
ninth to give top-seeded Clemson a 5-4 victory over Tennessee Tech
in Friday night's first-round game of the Clemson Regional.
The Tigers (41-20) advanced to play Oklahoma State (33-22) in
Saturday night's winners' bracket game.
Schaus' one-out grounder slipped just inside the first-base bag
and into the right-field corner, allowing Addison Johnson to score
the tying run. Chris Epps sped around from first base to score the
winner.
Schaus also hit the game's only home run in the fifth inning.
Graham Stoneburner (7-3) pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief to earn
the victory. Lee Henry (9-3) took the loss in relief of left-hander
Ryan Dennick, who gave up just five hits in seven innings.
