Asheville, NC – The start of the Southern Division Championship Series between the Drive and Asheville Tourists will have to wait one more day. Game 1 of the Best-of-3 series, which was scheduled for Wednesday night from McCormick Field in Asheville, has been postponed due to inclement weather.
The two teams will now play Thursday, originally an off day, with first pitch set for 7:05 PM at the Tourists home stadium. Greenville will send right-hander Stolmy Pimentel (10-7, 3.82 ERA) to the mound, while Asheville counters with right-hander Juan Nicasio (9-3, 2.41 ERA).
The series will still continue on Friday with Game 2 at Fluor Field in Greenville. First pitch for that game is set for 7:05 PM, with post-game fireworks to follow. It will be the first postseason baseball game in the Upstate since 1997, a span of 12 years. Should a Game 3 be necessary, that will also be played at Fluor Field on Saturday at 7:05 PM.
