Scott Wease, who has served as assistant baseball coach at Chesnee High for eight years, has accepted the head coaching position held by his high school coach and mentor, the legendary Dean Jones. Coach Jones is retiring after 47 years of coaching the Eagles.
Wease is a 1993 graduate of Chesnee High, where he was a well-rounded athlete, excelling in baseball as well as football and basketball. Among his many athletic accomplishments, he was Appalachian 2A Conference Athlete of the Year for 1993 and was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the June 1993 amateur draft. At the college level, Wease’s Spartanburg Methodist College team was ranked as high as #2 in the country, and he was named Most Valuable Player in his senior season at College of Charleston.
Coach Wease has assisted Jones during four Region II championships (2007–2010), five District championships (2004–2005, 2008–2010), one Upper State championship (2009), and this year’s State championship.
