Nikki Anthony has been named the Woodmont High School Varsity Women’s Basketball Coach. Anthony was selected from a pool of twenty-six candidates and accepted the job Friday, March 26.
A former Pickens High School standout, Anthony played volleyball and basketball for four years at Florida State University. While there, she earned a myriad of awards: Dominant Defender Award, Seminole Classic All-Tournament Team, Top Community Service Awards, and ESPN Magazine’s All District III First Team. She helped lead the Seminoles to three NCAA tournament appearances, two second round appearances, and one Sweet Sixteen Appearance. On top of playing two Division I sports, she was named four times to the All Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Having red-shirted her freshman season at FSU, Anthony chose to spend her final year of eligibility closer to home by playing for Anderson University. In the 2007-2008 season, Anthony was named Women’s Division II Honorable Mention All-American, Anderson University’s Athlete of the Year, Conference Carolina’s Player of the Year, AU’s Basketball MVP, and finished 10th in the nation in rebounds per game.
Following her decorated college career, Anthony spent one year with the Austrian Women’s Professional Basketball League.
Anthony will finish her Masters of Education Degree this May from Anderson University. She also works part time as a substitute teacher and part time as Director of Volleyball Operations and Assistant Director of Basketball Operations at Potential Academy.
