SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College has announced the 2012 football schedule, which includes home games against SoCon foes Western Carolina, Furman, The Citadel and Chattanooga, along with a road game against FBS opponent South Carolina.
The Terriers will open the season on the road at Gardner-Webb on September 1. Wofford will begin the home slate on September 8 against Lincoln University, a member of NCAA Division II and the CIAA.
The Southern Conference slate will begin on September 15 against Western Carolina. After an open date, Wofford will travel to Elon on September 29.
On October 6 the team hosts Furman for Family Weekend. The toughest stretch of the schedule will be back-to-back road games at Georgia Southern and Appalachian State on October 13 and 20. The Eagles, Mountaineers and Terriers have each been to the last two NCAA FCS Playoffs and have earned SoCon titles in the last two seasons.
Wofford returns home on October 27 against The Citadel, which will mark Homecoming weekend. After a trip to Samford on November 3, the Terriers will host Chattanooga on November 10 at Gibbs Stadium. The regular season concludes with a trip to South Carolina on November 17.
All dates and times are subject to change. A Southern Conference television schedule will be announced in early summer.
