GOLF COURSE SALE
W.Va.'s Oakhurst Links goes up for auction July 28
(Information in the following story is from: The State Journal, http://www.statejournal.com)
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) Oakhurst Links, one of the nation's first golf courses, will be sold at auction later this summer.
The State Journal says the sale is set for July 28 with Tommy Garten, owner of Covington, Va.-based Greenway's Real Estate and Auction Inc.
Oakhurst was built in 1884. Owner Lewis Keller bought it in 1959.
Last summer, three investors formed a foundation to buy the property for $2.5 million.
But Keller told The Associated Press on Friday they couldn't raise the money and were unable to close.
He says the group got one extension, but he denied a second.
Keller, now 89, says this isn't how he wanted to give up the 30-acre course. But he's hopeful the future owner will continue its history and maintain the property as he has.

Orioles designate OF Hall for assignment
BALTIMORE (AP) The Baltimore Orioles have designated veteran outfielder Bill Hall for assignment and recalled pitcher Stu Pomeranz from Triple-A Norfolk.
The Orioles also recalled catcher Ronny Paulino from Norfolk on Friday and optioned Luis Exposito to the same minor league club.
Hall was batting .286 with one homer since joining the team on May 12. He had seven at-bats in six games.
Manager Buck Showalter expressed hope that Hall would pass through waivers and accept an assignment to Norfolk.
Showalter said the Orioles wanted to add Pomeranz to "keep the integrity of the bullpen." The right-hander made two scoreless appearances with Baltimore earlier this season.
Paulino hit .300 (9 for 30) with three RBIs in nine games for the Orioles earlier this season. Exposito was batting .059 in eight games with Baltimore.
ORIOLES-JONES
Orioles, Jones talk about long-term extension
BALTIMORE (AP) The Baltimore Orioles and the agent for center fielder Adam Jones are discussing an extension for the one-time All-Star, whose contract expires after this season.
Jones confirmed Friday that his representative, Nez Balelo, was in Baltimore. Jones also said he's taken a physical, a prerequisite to a contract extension.
But he could not confirm an agreement.
Speaking before the Orioles faced the Kansas City Royals, Jones said of Balelo: "He's in town now. Hopefully I'll have some good news for you, but right now I don't. I'm sorry."
Reached by telephone, Balelo said, "It is our policy not to comment on any contract negotiations."
Orioles vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said "nothing is imminent."
The 26-year-old Jones made the AL All-Star team in 2009. He's batting .311.
