Reporter at WSPA
Robin Kanady’s move to the Upstate is a bit of a homecoming. Robin spent four years in Greenville attending Furman University, where she studied abroad in Spain, was a cheerleader, and worked for the campus TV station, WFTV. During college, Robin also interned at WSPA-TV with the consumer reporter, where she learned how to report on scams and arm viewers with useful information.
Robin started her journalism career at WJWJ-TV in Beaufort, SC as the Hilton Head Island bureau reporter. After a year and a half on the coast, Robin headed to South Carolina’s capital city to report for WOLO-TV. Robin was the State House and General Assignment Reporter. She covered many memorable stories, such as a deadly train wreck and chemical spill in Graniteville in 2005 and the fallout from former Governor Mark Sanford’s affair and the investigation into his state-funded travels.
In 2010, Robin traveled to Haiti with members of the United States Air Force to report on South Carolina's efforts to help the earthquake-ravaged country. Robin was also nominated for an Emmy for continuous coverage of a 2008 plane crash that killed four people and injured celebrity musicians Travis Barker and “DJ AM” Adam Goldstein.
In her free time, Robin is exploring the Upstate with her husband, Michael, and visiting family in her hometown of Concord, NC.
Robin is excited to return to the Upstate, working at WSPA-TV’s Anderson bureau. She looks forward to keeping you informed and telling stories that make a difference. Please let her know what stories you want to see covered!
