Profile for Diane Lee

Diane joined the WSPA team in October 2009 as a Daybreak co-anchor and 7 On Your Side Consumer reporter.

Prior to WSPA, Diane most recently co-anchored the morning show at FOX23 News in Albany, NY, where she wrote and edited scripts, researched background information for in-studio and satellite interviews, and pulled together occasional live field reports for breaking news.

Before FOX23, Diane was the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. co-anchor and 11 p.m. solo anchor at WYOU, the CBS affiliate in Scranton, PA. In addition to her duties on set, she produced, reported and frequently edited investigative and feature stories on issues ranging from drug trafficking to political scandals to college students running up credit card debt. She received two Excellence in Broadcasting Awards from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters for her series on prostitution and on domestic violence.

Diane’s first job in TV broadcasting  was as a one-man-band reporter: shooting, writing and editing daily packages for WRNN-TV, a cable news outlet covering counties north of New York City. While at WRNN, she received awards for excellence from the New York State Broadcasters Association for her investigative reports on homelessness and nuclear power safety.  She later became the 6:30 p.m. anchor while continuing to report daily.

In addition to her work in television news, Diane actively supports charities that promote the well being of children and victims of abuse. She has hosted numerous telethons for hospitals that care for children and the disabled, and emceed several fundraisers for an advocacy group for battered women. While in Pennsylvania, she produced and recorded a Christmas music CD for the Children's Miracle Network, organizing sponsors, musicians, a photographer and a CD production company in support of the project. The CD sales raised $20,000 for the charity and became the number two selling album in Northeast Pennsylvania in November of 2005 right behind Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Diane graduated cum laude from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in 2000.  In her spare time she loves to jog, hike and sing. She has sung the national anthem and God Bless America at sporting events for AAA baseball, arena football and speedway car races.

She and her husband, a native of the Asheville area of North Carolina, are thrilled to be living in the upstate!
